This past week held much anticipation regarding the arrival of my parents.
Sadly however, their trip was all to short; I miss them like crazy.
Our time together was filled with excitement. Tuesday night I had them take me to my favorite burger place "in-n-out burger". I stayed at their hotel the 3 nights they were here, which provided great (free) breakfasts and even dinners (still free). Wednesday I took my parents to disneyland and disney's california adventure. Their favorite rides were "Indiana Jones", "The Haunted Mansion" and "Soarin' Over California". Unfortunately we didn't get to go on Space Mountain, but we did see Captain EO (the tribute to Michael Jackson. And boy, his dancing is just phenomenal. Sometimes I wish I was a teenager in the 80's so I could have "real" dance moves. Not today's demented form of dancing that you would see at dance clubs. I wouldn't know, it's just what I've heard).
Thursday was probably the best day though: started off with a trip to Hollywood as we barely made it in time to be on set of Wheel of Fortune with hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White. Unbeknownst to me and my family they were filming 6 episodes of Wheel of Fortune that day. After 1 episode we decided we were ready to go :) haha. From Hollywood we went to Santa Monica Pier. Had a great time walking around and eating corn dogs. It was a windy day, but still warm and an awesome view of the mountains. I'll make sure to put some pictures up of the pier.
From there we made one last stop to Hollywood Boulevard as we saw the red carpet all laid out and ready for tonight's Oscars (march 7). What a perfect time to visit huh?
My parents haven't changed at all. My mom spent the time in the car looking out the window and telling us how beautiful the trees were and what type of flowers we were looking at. She is ready and anxious for this spring when she can start gardening again as she has so wonderfully done for as long as I can remember.
My dad still jumped right into vacation mode and made a stop to a local grocery store as soon as he arrived to pick up his essentials that come with "vacation mode" - peanut butter M&M's, chocolate milk, reeses cups, and doritos (all the leftovers of which were given to me... love it when the parents visit!)
Their departure was met by a depressing line, "see you in August." BOO! Mom and Dad, come visit me again! I love you both! and wouldn't have been able to move out here & be on my own without your training and preparation in my life all these years. God bless you two.
