One regret I have for blogging during my California adventure - I wish I would have blogged a short blog once a week rather than waiting like 4 months then feeling guilty and having to write an essay. With that said - this will be my last blog. I do leave in 8 days.
Went to The Red Wood Forest last week and saw some HUGE trees - like 200 feet tall. It was a camping trip. SOOOO much fun. Us kids made big fires and set up tents and brought food and went on Hikes and wow what a great time! :)
One of the 4 days of our camping trip we made a day trip up 67 miles to San Francisco.
What an incredible city! I got to be our groups tour guide. I researched before the trip that there was cheap parking in Japan Town (10 dollars all day). This beats the 50 dollars all day by the golden gate bridge. That cheap parking determined where our trip would take place (haha that's kinda funny now that I think about it). I made our group walk 8 miles! I think they were all mad at me. Especially because the group flat out told me they were made at me. I felt sooo cool with my little san francisco map and bus schedule and subway map and everything. We spent our day in the northeast part of san francisco. There we walked the fisherman's warf and walked all the way to the golden gate bridge! WOOHOO! soo cool. What I found funny was that about 5 miles east of the san francisco bridge is the oakland-bay bridge which architecturally seemed just as impressive as the golden gate bridge - but because it's painted a dull gray color and not a fancy red makes it seem so less cool. hahaha. No one marvels at the oakland bay bridge. The only time I got nervous on the trip was about 9 pm when I lead the group back to our car in Japan town. Not the best part of town but we made it. I really really like the city. It reminded me of a tame version of New York except it had HUGE hills! I really really liked the hills. I bet I would be such a good runner if I was out there.
Marathon training is going well. I haven't been running much though so I feel bad/guilty.
I've been trying to eat healthy but since it's my last week here I want to take advantage of my last in-n-out burger and del taco and all the other awesome CAlifornia fast food junk that I can't have in Ohio.
My brother Nick got in last last night around 3 am. my roommate joseph was nice enough to pick him up with me.
Nick will stay for a few days then fly to China where he will teach ESL till June 2011!!!!!
I will miss him like crazy but I'm glad I get to hang with him.
I'm gonna take him to Disneyland for 2 days and makes sure we have a great time before we both depart away from california...... what a great internship it's been.
I've loved working for Disney - I've learned so much about leadership and guest service.
I got a job as a campus representative at the university of akron. Basically I will be advertising the college program and helping with the presentations. It's not a paid job but I will get perks like free tix to disney and stuff. It's a way for me to stay with the Disney company and keep my foot in the door with a fantastic company.
I love you Akron! I'll see you soon.
