Here I am with friends on Hollywood Hotel's:
Tower of Terror

Grocery Bingo

So I've played "grocery bingo" twice and still have yet to win! Basically, all of the Disney College Programmers get together and play bingo (lead by the apartment housing staff). Whoever wins gets a bag of groceries. The bag usually contains a box of mac n' chesse, stuffed potatoes, can of chicken breast, tuna, etc. Today only like 14 people showed up. There were probably about 13 winners today too, somehow I just don't have the luck. My grandpa always had luck with any sort of game or raffle he would enter. Guess it didn't pass on to the 4th generation of American Chima's.

Sickness has really been going around this place. I've been working hard not to catch it. I wash my hands at least once a day :)

Yesterday I went to Disneyland with a new group of friends. We saw the premier of "Captain EO". It's a 3-D movie that Disneyland used to show back in the 80's. It featured Michael Jackson as the captain of a space ship and basically the whole audience is IN the space ship. The show was replaced with "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" which has been around since Captain EO was canceled. Due to the death of Michael, Captain EO was brought back this year. It was a cool show. I will make my parents go to it when they come visit me in 4 days!!!!! YAY!

Ripped a whole in my favorite pair of jeans trying to skateboard. I think it's good for me that it happened. I idolized those jeans. ALL VANITY I TELL YOU!

My Chinese roommate asked me tonight who sets America's laws. I think I need to revisit Govenment class with Mrs. Carter in home-school high-school. I gave him my best answer, it wasn't completely right though (I told him Obama takes care of us. Just kidding).

I went online and got me and my parents free tickets to see wheel of fortune when they come. Can't wait to see them. I haven't seen a familiar face since I've been out here (weirdest feeling ever). I made my folks a list of things I want them to bring me (that I either forgot to bring or didn't have room for in my suitcase). The list is 15 items long. All essentials though.

Got a picture with Marry Poppins, I'll post it up here - it's one of my favorites.

Guest Relations

One of the big parts of working at Disney is... "Keeping the magic alive!" This is difficult, especially when you're on your feet 8 hours a day 5 days a week (I guess this is growing up). Yesterday I worked "Guest Control". This is where I am paid to stand around and answer questions that people have upon entering the park. And of course this job entails, Keeping the magic alive. Boy Swensons didn't seem THIS hard! I think it's because at Swensons I had to move around constantly. Yesterday, I stood in the same spot all day long while interacting with guests. My legs get MORE tired just standing there! I would rather be walking or something.

Since I have no younger siblings, I was never super good with little kids. I'm finding myself getting down to the level of 3 year old girls saying things like, "Wow! a princess! You look beautiful!" I feel awkward and weird making this kind of magic, but apparently it's what I'm paid to do. And my bosses love it.

As much fun as it'd be to answer questions about Disney (from what information I have retained) it's mainly the same questions people have all throughout the day: "Which way to the bathroom?" and "Can we bring food into the park?" (just so you know, you can bring a reasonable amount of food into the park as long as it's in a backpack or purse. Coolers must be checked into lockers at the front gate, and for some reason - NO frozen water bottles! I don't know why though?!)

Everyone says that you should act good around the "leads" (or managers) so they notice your good work and reward you with complements to upper management and ALSO reward you with gold coins. Haha! boy do I know about gold coins! these gold coins can be redeemed for various disney merchandise though, not Swensons burgers.
Most of the "above and beyond" work I do is behind the managers backs after they leave - like picking up trash on the parking lot and helping guests find things. I don't like acting extra good just around the boss. I want to act extra good ALL the time. It appears though that the boss' aren't noticing me though. Any thoughts?

The weather is hot, and the sun-burn is all over! :) haha

Disney Class

Last Tuesday I had my first (and only) Disney class. We meet one day a week for 3 hrs. The class is called corporate analysis. Basically, in this class we will be analyzing the corporation. :)

Since last tues was the first class, we mainly spent the 3 hrs doing introductions and talking about what we'll be doing in the class. One of my assignments this semester is a presentation on a particular topic. We were given about 30 topics to choose from that were all Disney related. I wanted to choose to do my presentation on Disney Cruise Line as that was one of the options. I was sure my dad could get me some good information on it. However, I was the last person in line to pick a presentation subject, and when I got to the table the Disney cruise line topic was already taken. I then chose "translation devices in the Disneyland resort". I'm excited to research about this, especially cause' my roommate is from China. I'm not sure what all "devices" Disneyland has to offer, but I'm pretty excited to find out.

A very nice couple from the church I go to out here is lending me a bike for 8 months. The bike is very nice, but there is a lot of rust on the chain and one of the tire inner-tubes was ripped to shreds. I went to walmart and got a small can of wd-40 and a new inner tube for the bike tire. I spent all day yesterday getting the bike tire over the innertube and on the bike wheel. It is a difficult process!!! However I was able to do it. The bike worked GREAT yesterday! Today was the first day I rode it to work. Everything seemed great except half way through my ride to Disneyland this morning, the tire started rubbing up against the side of the bike causing me to slow down. I couldn't even pedal again because the tire just rubbed against the side of the bike! boy this is hard to explain in a blog. Just picture the back bike tire NOT being centered. I guess it's another project for this weekend. Maybe I'll just spend time looking for a bike expert in this apartment.

I also went to huntington beach. I'll post some pictures. And I also went to the college program's valentines day dinner/dance last night, SUPER fun!

Night Parking at disney

Parking cars is not exciting at night time. Tonight I had my first night shift. Since Disneyland closed at 8:00 tonight, they closed the tolls at 5:00. That means that after 5:00 guests can drive straight into the parking lots without paying the $14 that is normally charged. Only the annual passholders go at this time though. And they don't need help parking, they've been to the park a million times. So basically I stood around all night trying to look important and answer questions, then I was able to go home early.... and play my guitar for like 2 hours! So much fun (I'm also SO glad I brought it! a big thanks to my neighbor Mr. Perkins for encouraging me to bring it :)
